Shepards Helping Hands Update
Shepards helping hands had a great December 2009. Several successful events helped to raise money to buy food, medication, clothing, trips to the physicians, and heaters for those in need.
Some of these fund raiser events included:
Wrapping christmas presesnts- Thanks to Dauna Sue, Pam, and Rina
Bake Sale - and thanks to Dennis, Joshua, and Charlie for their help
Santa with the Kids
And most of all... thank you to the individuals that made these fund raisers a success by their participation and support.
We look forward to another exciting year ahead with some old and some new events. So please keep checking our calendar page.
Shepard's Employees Find Joy in Giving
Employees of Shepards find joy in one special event that they organize each year. A deserving family is picked in each office for christmas help. The employees become aware of those families in our communities that may need a little extra help for their children. Excitedly presents are brought in every day until Christmas eve, when the presents are delivered to these families. This is a special event that all look forward to participating in each Christmas Season.
Shepard's Staff Braves Snow and Ice
Christmas Eve morning residents of the Texas Panhandle awoke to a major arctic front. With roads covered in layers of snow and ice, Shepards' Crook Nursing staff weathered the storm to visit homebound patients.
Nurses, therapists and aides provided care needed by our patients, delivered meals for christmas, and made sure all our patients had heat in their homes. The office staff kept phones open answering calls, keeping track of staff in the field, and keeping patients informed about the weather.
As the day came to a close, the on call staff picked up to take 24 hour call during the holiday. Shepards wants to thank all their staff for their extraordinary effort on such a white Christmas eve. We are proud of our dedicated employees.

Love Education
Shepard's is sending several nurses from each office to a wound care seminar in January and Febuary. There they will learn new wound procedures to facilitate healing and ease for the patient.
Our office staff is going to learn new coding techniques. Coding is essential for billing Medicare for homebound clients requiring skilled care in their home. This will be a great resource to not only Shepards and the patient.
Administrators will be attending Texas Association of Home Care meetings to get updates on new Medicare guidelines and get a first peek at how the new health care bill will be affecting our patients. They will also attend speaker conference on fraud and abuse pertaining to our clients welfare.
Shepards is always excited to not only keep our staff informed of upcoming medical changes, but keep our communities informed.
